| Summary: | Tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world. It represents a stake in the world economy and a tool in achieving the sustainable development goals. At the same time, alternative tourism is a practice that is gaining more importance in developing countries. It has been studied in islands and seaside regions, mountains, forests, and parks. However, very little research focused on the practice of alternative tourism in desert areas. It is thus not only difficult to assess its potential market, but also its main contributions to local communities. This article aims to better understand how the practices of national tourists contribute to the development of the communities of Djanet and Taghit. To address this issue, a documentary and empirical analysis was carried out in both cities. |
