Sumario:The following article proposes a historiographical reflection on the interpretive schemes that have analyzed the motives of the Montoneros militants who, having exiled themselves to avoid the state repression of the last military dictatorship (1976-1983), decided to return during the Strategic Counteroffensive (1978-1980) of the organization. These schemes go back, in some cases, to "native" interpretations used since the late 1970s by the militants of the organization. Together, they outline the trajectory of the organization and the action of its militants. In this paper the three most habitual formulas are interrogated: the "victim militants", the "heroic militants" and the "alienated militants". From the contextualization of these interpretations and the explanation of their political content, this article seeks to rescue the value of the historical question about the montonero becoming beyond the more general memorial formulas that have tried to endow a meaning (and logical) to the trajectory of Montoneros.
