The original titles of these texts we chose to compare are as follows: Hertha Kräftner's "In der Hauptstadt" and Ingeborg Bachmann's "Das Gebell von Hunden". (Ingeborg Bachmann's story has been translated into Turkish by Kamuran Şipal, but Hertha Kräftner's story has not yet been translated into our language. For this reason, the quotations from Kräftner’s text have been translated into Turkish by us). The subject of this comparative study is to discuss the problem of self-alienation (the alienation of the person to himself) and the alienation of family relations in the context of the ‘mother-son relationship’ in the selected texts of Ingeborg Bachmann's "Barking of Dogs" and Hertha Kräftner's "In the Capital". The aim of the study is to draw attention to the problem of alienation, which is one of the most important problems of the individual and societal aspects of the (post)modern era. In this study, we will compare the both narratives we choose to examine in terms of methodology in terms of 'common subject'. The method we use in analyzing texts on the axis of 'alienation is problematic' is an eclectic method of interpreting werkimmanent interpretation method, psychoanalytic, sociological and feminist criticism and reader-oriented (werktranszendental) approaches.
