In the process of teaching those necessary skills, one of the most important reference resources for the music instructors is the musical instrument methods. In Turkey, the published Turkish flute methods is notable in terms of flute education which has an important role within the scope of general, amateur and professional music education. The aim of this research is to define the Turkish flute methods that were written to make contributions to the flute education, and to investigate these methods to determine whether they include the basic knowledge and behaviours, flute techniques and the supportive materials related to music education. In this research, descriptive survey model was used. The scope of the research includes four flute methods published by national publishing companies in Turkey. These methods are Ece Karşal Flute Method (Beginner Level), Gülşen Tatu Flute Method, Mustafa Arı Flute Method and Tuna Çakmaklı Flute Method. According to the results of the study, it was found that the number of method books written for the flute education is quite limited in Turkey, that Turkish flute methods have been used for 12 years, and that there are both similarities and differences in the methods in terms of content. It was also found that in most of the methods, there are knowledge and behaviours related to flute. However, it was revealed that there are insufficient amount of exercises related to flute techniques, and that there are not any new techniques in these methods except for one method. In those methods, there are visual materials and work that is written for flute; however, only two methods include audio support in exercises. Last, some recommendations were noted according to the findings and results of the research.Özge GENÇEL ATAMANFırat Universityarticlemusic educationinstrument educationflute educationfluteturkish flute methodsSocial SciencesHSocial sciences (General)H1-99DEENFRTRJournal of Academic Social Science Studies , Vol 9, Iss 45, Pp 235-245 (2019) |
