Light-induced symmetry breaking for enhancing second-harmonic generation from an ultrathin plasmonic nanocavity
In nanoplasmonic systems symmetry can often suppress the second harmonic generation (SHG) is spite of the highly enhanced fields. Here, the authors demonstrate light-induced symmetry breaking that enables strong SHG enhancement from symmetric nanophotonic systems with certain properties.
