At that time, the colonisation of the territory by the sheep-farming had limited hunters’ movements, confining them to the South of the island. This context was favourable to Bridges (already established in the South), in order to make contact with the hunters. His relationship with them was an empathic one, and his enterprise –a road construction, first, then a ranch–, was the most benefited with it.
