Sumario:This master's thesis presents an investigation on the public policy of canine control population in Mexico City. We will investigate the current situation of Mexico City, as well as the evolution of human - dog coexistence along history. The different campaigns on animal care in the city, governed by the Health Department of the Federal District will be studied in depth. The Federal District´s Animal Protection Law will also be analyzed, as the basis for the different programs which the capital of the country count with as well as its reforms. Afterwards, the Animal Vigilance Brigade, the first police responsible for the welfare of the animals, will be explored, studying its protocol, which is commissioned by Mexico City´s Public Security Secretary based on the Law of Protection to The Animals Of The Federal District, in order to reach the issue of responsible tenure and the initiative to be implemented in the city. All this in order to know if the public policies in Mexico City are adequate for the solution to the control in the canine population.
