Sumario: | This article analyzes the novel by Beatriz Guido, La casa del ángel (1955), focusing on the development of the female subject, from the main character’s point of view. This development, furthermore, is related to the different possibilities of integration of this subject into the city. In our opinion, Beatriz Guido describes Buenos Aires as a place that gives women both personal freedom and fewer restrictions in terms of traditional gender roles ; two characteristics usually associated to women’s childhood. For the female main character, however, adulthood means the entrance into a domestic sexuality as well as her definitive estrangement from the modern city. |
