Sumario: | Compared to the past, more and more people are traveling internationally, living and studying in a different country. For these individuals, the experience of living and training in a foreign country can be both mentally and emotionally challenging because of the landscape they are not accustomed to compared to the life in their own countries. If individuals are highly concerned about communication, they tend to avoid or withdraw from communication with others. International students are very valuable in higher education, not only for their contribution to an understanding of this globalized world, but for more practical reasons such asthe economic benefits they bring. In this study, using the Intercultural Communication Apprehension Scale developed by Neuliep and McCroskey (1997); The level of intercultural communication. apprehension is examined in the case of Turkish and foreign students studying at Selçuk University. Method used in the study was field survey that conducted a face to face poll to 436 students. In the study, it was tried to determine whether Turkish and foreign students studying at Selçuk University carry communication apprehension when they enter a different culture environment, Neuliep and McCrosky's 5-point likert type and 14 different expressions of Intercultural Communication Apprehension Scale. In addition, it has been analyzed whether the level of intercultural communication apprehension varies according to certain variables. According to the results of the factor analysis, two factor groups such as Neuliep and McCrosky's scale have emerged. Seven of the factor group and seven of the negative group were found to be positive. Research results; participants point out that the intercultural communication anxiety score is slightly above the middle level. It also showed that the students with friends from different countries had lower communication concerns than those who did not. |
