In the context of the theory of evolution, transformation of the spatial organization of the economy could not be managed without a massive redistribution of state resources. During post-Soviet period the structure of the economic space of the North-West macroregion was influenced by the implementation of the foreign economic relations of Russia with the European Union. It determines the impact of transport and energy infrastructure on the processes of transformation and international relations in the macroregion.
