Sumario:Túe state of Morelos is one of the s d e s t states of Mexiw, its area is 4 999 lanz where Tropical Dry Forest is the most imporfant vegetation. This vegetation is composed of tropical wmmunities, with domination of low t m , wide crown and remarkable seasooal changes, this is because they lose &ir leaves. Landsat TM image data were evaluated to determine their abihty to discriminate this vegetation among others. An autmnated unsupervised wmputer classiñcation was performed and the results verificad on ground. Results showed a classification accuracy of 73 percent. Fmally, the tropical dry forest could be identified among other associations, but the interna1 variations were not easy to identify. Lost wver was evaluated for the state based in the classiñcation result with the aid of digital, potential md actual, vegetaton maps.
