Sumario:In the world geography the countries which are known as Scandinavia, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark housed an only one of its kind type society in the middle age. Although people who are relative to this society are known as Northmen, Rus, or Danish, today, Viking have become the common name for them. They are known as Rus in the medieval Islamic world. Vikings make agriculture, husbandry, and hunting in their motherland. Later, they begin long-distance trade. However, the name Viking spread through the world, aspecially Europe, by plunder, pillage, and tear. European chronicles frequently tells about Viking plunder and murder. So that, this period is seen as a particular period and it is named with a particular name. One of the most important periods of the world is this period of 8th-11th century when Scandinavians, known as Vikings, plunder European countries and trade worlwide. ‘Viking Age,’ this period is called in Europe. In this period, Vikings, who have not been noticed earlier, are very efficient in world geography and especially European geography. Behind commerce and pluncer, they play a role in power balance of states. Moroever, they establishes a dynasty and kingdom known as Normans. This paper aims to analyze geography and socio-economical structure of Scandinavians, called Vikings, in that era.
