Morphological comparison also shows their distinctiveness from other families of <i>Xylariales</i>. Therefore, we introduce it as a novel family, <i>Vamsapriyaceae</i>. Based on morphological characteristics, <i>Podosporium</i> and <i>Tretophragmia</i>, which were previously classified in <i>Ascomycota</i> genera <i>incertae sedis</i>, are now included in the <i>Vamsapriyaceae</i>.
