However, Orwell had great difficulties to get his work published because publishers were not willing to publish the book for various reasons. When the novella was finally published in 1945, it was highly praised by both readers and critics. It was written as a satire on 1917 Russian Revolution in an allegoric fable style. The CIA, which saw the novella could be used as a propaganda tool against Russia in the cold war years, financed the transformation of the novella into an animated film, which was released in 1954. The novella was first published in Turkish in 1952 in instalments in Cumhuriyet newspaper with Halide Edip Adıvar’s translation. Later in 1954 it was published as a book by Ministry of Education again using Halide Edip Adıvar’s translation. Interestingly, the novella was published under the title "New American Literature Series", and this mistake continued until 1990. In the 1990 edition, "New American Literature" title was lifted without any explanation. The work has been published many times by different publishing houses with translations of different translators. In this study, Halide Edip Adıvar’s translation published by Ministry of Education and Celal Üster’s translation published by Can Yayınları have been compared.
