| Sumario: | This paper tries to explore the motivations characterizing the experience and social practice of Chilean woman’s suicides, through the detailed analysis of a set of judicial investigations involving successful and failed self-killings between 1884 and 1948. In doing so, and considering the specific nature of the sources, I propose a particular heuristic device like a gender approach, which allows us to understand the relation between suicide and woman’s identity. |
