This study aims to identify the roles and competencies necessary for the management and organization of an institutional repository. It is a qualitative study with participant observation, supported by the literature review, which allowed us to reflect on the role of repository managers and the skills they must gather in the context of open science, having as a case study the General Study, the repository of the University of Coimbra.
