Sumario: | From the point of view of Urban Economics, there is clear relationship between residential location and family structure, with family with income dependent members living nearer from de location of the jobs (Central Business Districts). This paper uses the micro data from Brazilian 2010 Census to explore this relationship for the case of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, the most important Metropolitan Region of the country and one that presents few natural urban amenities. Although being not sufficient to prove a causal relationship, the results provides strong support for the traditional Urban Economic models that take in account family structure as an important factor affecting residential location choice. |
