Sumario:The first moment of the article describes and compares the use of the topic of silence in some moments of the poetry of Norah Lange, Alejandra Pizarnik and Tamara Kamenszain. For the second moment of the article, the comparison serves to discuss the way in which Olga Orozco articulates her way of understanding silence in three poems: “El resto era silencio”, “La sibila de Cumas” y “En el final era el verbo” from the book El revés del cielo (1987). In her way of saying she decays a way in which she no longer wants to say. Between wanting and power over poetic saying, in Orozco, a fundamental difference is articulated. While being able to concern the power or power to do something –in this case, say–; the desire implies a desire or an appetite, a will –in this case, to mean–. It can be said, but it is not and never will be the desire of the lyrical voice to do so. Hence, she opts for silence, for containment.
