For the second moment of the article, the comparison serves to discuss the way in which Olga Orozco articulates her way of understanding silence in three poems: “El resto era silencio”, “La sibila de Cumas” y “En el final era el verbo” from the book El revés del cielo (1987). While being able to concern the power or power to do something –in this case, say–; the desire implies a desire or an appetite, a will –in this case, to mean–. It can be said, but it is not and never will be the desire of the lyrical voice to do so. Hence, she opts for silence, for containment.Asunción Rangel LópezUniversidad Nacional de Mar del Plataarticlepoesía argentinasilenciocontenciónanálisis poéticoolga orozcoLatin America.
