Sumario: | Translator training and translators’ self‑learning. How to take advantage of professionals’ experience to train translators?
This paper is aimed to define the translation activity as a range of actions much wider than just language processing. It includes interactions with clients, financial and office management, research, advertising and learning. Learning itself applies to all the translator’s actions, but it also should be seen as a metacognitive mechanism, and a manifestation of the translator’s self‑reflection, which also can be improved. This paper uses the results of a research conducted with translators of Spanish, which proved the existence of self‑learning practices among translators and the utility of self‑learning strategies in their professional life. Thus, the aim of this paper is to consider the methods of training the translation students to use self‑learning strategies.
