The article traces the trans/queer relation in international scholarly debates from an enthusiastic exchange of ideas in the 1990s to increasing mutual criticism and mistrust around the turn of the millennium as queer was seen by some as a problematic approach that easily ends up in erasure of trans people's subjective experiences, and further to attempts to bridge such splits that had emerged.
