Sumario:The critical edition of Kutadgu Bilig, which is one of the works of Karahanlı Turkish period, was published by Prof. Dr. Reşit Rahmeti Arat in 1947. The translation of Divanü Lugati’t Türk, which was published by Besim Atalay in 1939. In this article, for this purpose we used the Reşid Rahmeti Arat and Besim Atalay publications of knowledge for wealth. Kutadgu Bilig and Divanü Lugati’t-Türk is very important works for Turkısh culture. Therefore, Kutadgu Bilig and Divanü Lugati’t Türk which is the first source about the Turkish world’s literature, language, cultural, social situation in the 11th century gives us very important and original knowledge’s for Turcology researching. Animals have an important place in life. In each society’s language, there are many vocabularies which are about animals depend on life style and habitat. Animal names and words which are related to those names, have a place in vocabulary in Turkish. In this study, the content of birds in Kutadgu Bilig and Divanü Lugati’t Türk which is one of the first works of Islamic Turkish Literature is discussed. This study was conducted as a survey method based on the review of the document. In this study, birds are arranged according to name. In the conclusion part of the study results has been given in a table. In this article, proverbs and similes about the birds have been identified. As a result, Kutadgu Bilig and Divanü Lugati’t Türk is precious works that should absolutely be utilized by not only our language, culture and literature historians, but also our nature historians and Ornithologists.
