Description
Summary:Binary and ternary fluorides of some lanthanides (Ce, Eu(II,III), Yb) and Al were synthesized and annealed at high temperatures and deep vacuum. Their structure and composition have been studied by both X-ray analysis and chemical one. Magnetic susceptibilities of the samples were measured by the Faraday method. Some of them exhibited significant deviation in the composition from the stoichiometry. Most of the Eu(II,III) did not satisfy the Curie- Weiss equation due to electron exchange interaction.
