Sumario: | The uprising in Syria has generated new forms of protest, previously confined to intellectual and artistic elites. How did filmmakers react to such events led by popular classes? How did they respond to the new dynamics of production, creation and diffusion? Those who engaged in the revolution through films are mostly self-taught filmmakers who were working on the fringes of institutional networks. How can such a phenomenon be explained? In an attempt to address these questions, we explored the cinematic practices invented with the revolution, in anticipation of the transformation of a cinematic field which has always been intertwined with the logic the political field. We also investigated creation as it emerges through camera lenses, in order to capture the specificities of the cinematic narratives elaborated in this singular historical moment. |
