Sumario: | This paper discusses the shaping of Mexican territory in the light of the power relations that moulded international politics in the 19th century. Drawing from Yves Lacoste’s geopolitical analysis, the work claims, first, that it is essential to look at the interconnections and interaction between different territorial scales; and, second, that we need to take a long-term historical view, if we are to grasp the process that led to the final configuration of Mexico’s borders. |
