After joining the French Revolution, he freed Saint-Domingue from the Spanish and English presence and offered to his people a progressive Constitution. Betrayed by the Emperor Bonaparte who was not faithful to his word and refused to accept the course of History, Louverture was jailed in a dark prison of Jura where he ended his existence dedicated to the protection of the dignity of the humbles.
