Summary:This article analyzes the Chacarillas' act of July 9, 1977, one of the greatest and most striking political rituals of the chilean civic-military dictatorship, with remarkable cultural and political significance. For this purpose, this article is divided into three parts. First, there are briefly outline some theoretical considerations about political rituals. Second, there are analyzed relevant historical facts that lead to what happened that afternoon. And finally, the ceremony itself is studied understood as a turning point in what the cultural and political analysis of the chilean civic-military dictatorship is concerned.
