Sumario: | The aim of this research is to determine the effect of jigsaw and group research techniques on the academic success of 8th grade students in mathematics courses, and find out the opinions of the students on these techniques. In this regard, the study group of the research is composed of 48 students who studied in 8/A, 8/C and 8/D classes of an elementary school in a district of Erzurum in the 2010-2011 academic year. Experimental research model with pre-test and post-test control group, which is among quantitative research methods, was used in the study. Triangles Academic Success Test, Group Research and Jigsaw Opinion Surveys were used as data collection tools. In view of the obtained data, it was concluded that the group research and jigsaw techniques are more effective in increasing the academic success compared to the traditional method; jigsaw technique is more effective in increasing the academic success compared to the group research technique; the students in group research and jigsaw groups stated positive opinions on the techniques that were used in the research. |
