The constitution of the territory as an object of trade union action is in fact not at all obvious, as this process questions the pyramidal and sectoral logics that make up the structure of French trade unionism. After presenting the divisions accompanying the dynamics of territorial specialization, I underline what the development of trade union expertise on the subject owes to the personal resources of local activists, linked to their biographical trajectories or their positions in the CGT networks.
