A lot of poet and author appeared within a ruled wide geography during the period of the lifterary tradition in question. Several centers are especially remarkable in terms of literary personalities in number and accordingly literary works. Within this context, Diyarbakır is a place that have come into prominence with its two hundred Diwan poets that grew in Ottoman period. When Diyarbakır and Ottoman Literature are mentioned, some poets or authors come to mind firstly. One of these names is Ali Emiri Efendi of Diyarbakır, who is known with his interest in collecting books, donated his complete collection of books and founded Millet Library, found and introduced Mahmud al-Kasgari’s Diwan Lughat al-Turk (Compendium of Languages of the Turks), a significant book in terms of Turkish language culture and history, to science world. Besides beforementioned features and a lot of books, Ali Emiri Efendi had a Diwan in which he collected his poems. In our paper, we will emphasize what type of a poet’s portrait Ali Emiri Efendi fictionalized before starting the compliment in the opening sections (nasibs) of some qasidas.
