Distinct effects of general anesthetics on lung metastasis mediated by IL-6/JAK/STAT3 pathway in mouse models

The effects of anesthetics on cancer metastasis are largely unknown. Here, the authors show in two preclinical mouse models that surgical resection of primary tumours under anesthesia with sevoflurane leads to more lung metastases than with propofol and that such distinct effects are associated with...

Sumario:The effects of anesthetics on cancer metastasis are largely unknown. Here, the authors show in two preclinical mouse models that surgical resection of primary tumours under anesthesia with sevoflurane leads to more lung metastases than with propofol and that such distinct effects are associated with change of cytokines and modulation of myeloid cells in the lung.
