Sumario:The article is devoted to the study of the level of knowledge of students in grades 6 on orientation methods. The subject of the analysis was the cognitive, emotional-motivational and activity-based components of teaching geography lessons. The levels of formation of students’ knowledge about orientation were determined. Students of the experimental and control groups demonstrated mainly a low level of component formation in the study of orientation. But the study of the emotional-motivational component showed interest in studying this topic. In the control group, qualitative indicators are higher compared with the experimental group by 8–24%.
