Sumario:In the period of preschool, when the personality makes a rapid development, attention is drawn to the media tools among the factors which are effective in guiding the child. Different studies have been carried out on the effects of cartoons that mostly arouse children’s interest and keep them busy. We have tried to determine comparatively how local and foreign cartoons effect the 4-6 years old children. We have studied on children’s perception and attitude towards themes, characters and significant figures in the 4 different cartoons. The study has been carried out through the method of interview among the 4-6 years old children. There were 30 children in total; 15 of them were boys and 15 of them were girls. The obtained data were taken into consideration; it has been revealed that the children like the cartoons reflecting their own values more and adopt the cute, sympathetic, strong and funny characters whereas they don’t realize the malignancy of the bad characters that are funny and cute. It has been understood that the children reinforce that acquirements with realizing religious and cultural values which they are familiar with in the cartoons. It has also been discovered that the families have suggestions on their children’s perception of cartoon; they approach to the events and characters in the aspect of the values of the society which they live in. It has been determined that the children in that age group are good observers, pay attention to many details in the cartoons and can distinguish the characters, themes and figures. Some important findings have been discovered that watching cartoons corresponds to game play, it is effective on children with implicit routing addressing to the childish motives and the child feeds the system of values.
