Molecular mechanism and structural basis of small-molecule modulation of the gating of acid-sensing ion channel 1

Liu et al study the molecular and structural mechanism of the modulation of ASIC1 channel gating using functional, crystallographic, computational and mutational approaches. They identify small molecules that allosterically stabilize the closed state by binding at the acidic pocket of the channel.
