Remote past as more recent history, including immediate history, are turned into analytical objects. The analysis shifts about forgotten historical themes, such as affects and emotions, or the political management of feelings : for this purpose it retrieves “memorial traces” which have especial meaning in the long term for the cultural history of a nation.
