Sumario: | In today's world where educational models are developed and constantly renewed, the issues such as human rights, citizenship and democracy education constitute an important point in the education systems. Changing world conditions are also considered, the need for these areas is constantly increasing. From past to present, these issues maintain its importance in Turkish education system and have found its place at all times. The purpose of the present study is to display the views of teachers and academics related to the application of the Citizenship and Democracy Education Course under the changing education system (4 +4 +4) in fourth classroom. In this study, document analysis as a qualitative research methods was used and analysis of the data was performed by content analysis technique. The research was carried out with 35 social studies and classroom teachers working in elementary and secondary schools of Ministry of Education and also 35 academics who work in these sections in 2012-2013 academic year. As a source of data in this study, semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used. As a result of research, some of the participants gave negative view, while some of them gave positive view related to the application of the Citizenship and Democracy Education Course in fourth classroom. In addition, most of the participants said that this course should be prepared with an understanding that gives priority to democratic values and skills and they also said that the teaching of this course in the 6., 7., and 8. grades would be more appropriate. |
