Sumario: | One of the important fields of graphic design is logo design. A good logo design should be able to symbolize corporate identity in a unique plastic language to create awareness for the target audience. Besides, it should have stylistic qualities that will not lose visual expression characteristics in various fields of use. Moreover, logo design is the fundamental element in creating visual identity and ensuring its sustainability.
Organizations need logo designs in order to create brand recognition and awareness on their target audiences. This also applies to universities and faculties with academic units. In this context, it is very important for design and art faculties, which train experts in their fields, to create and choose their own logo designs since this design reflects corporate identity.
In this study, we investigated whether the faculties of Design and Art Education in Turkish universities have their own logo designs, and we evaluated the logo designs of these faculties graphically. In this evaluation process, the stylistic structures of the designs in the composition fictions and the connotations they create were investigated. Typographic elements were discussed, and stylizations were analyzed through use of color and visual simplifications. Applicability of the designs according to different media and printing techniques were emphasized. The positive and negative situations encountered during faculties logo designs are discussed, and the general and special expression styles of the related designs are emphasized. Common images preferred for use in designs were determined. Also, the images that differ according to the cultural and geographical features were studied. |
