| Sumario: | This article emphasizes that the construction of rights has always occurred by means of disputes of interests of social groups which form society. Reflections on the State bill nO 154/08, which aims to cause an exception to the prohibition to cut down babassu palm trees in urban areas of metropolitan regions of Maranhão, it evidences the conflict between the legalization of economic interests and the environment preservation and the way of Iife of traditional communities of babaçu coconut breakers in urban regions of the State. |
