Sumario:A state-of-the-art review on the assessment and modelling of traffic noise intensity on roadside dwellers has been conducted with emphasis on the Port Harcourt, Nigeria case. Traffic noise is generated by individual vehicles and the volume of traffic. For individual vehicles, noise combines sounds produced by the engine, transmission, exhaust, the interaction between the tires and road pavement, air turbulence, and body and load rattles. These affect roadside dwellers across the world and deserve maximum attention. This overview research work was aimed at looking at the model suggestions proposed by previous research works towards managing noise intensity for the health of dwellers around traffic lanes. From this review, it has been established that models have been proposed by various researchers of different backgrounds across the world and will reinforce the ability to forecast the case under consideration when a more practical, numerical and analytical approach is undertaken guided by the contents of this present review research finding.
