Sumario:The purpose of the study is to identify the knowledge of energy and opinions about different energy resources of the primary students depending on their education programs. In order to achieve that purpose, 230 students attending to 6th, 7thand8th grades at a primary school in the county of Beykoz in the city of Istanbul during the 2005-2006 (former program) and 2010-2011(current program) academic years have been selected as the sample group. Seven open-ended questions prepared by the researchers applied to the sample group and the obtained data was evaluated with the content analysis method. An assessment instrument, which was prepared by the researchers and composed of seven open ended questions, was used in the research. The first four questions out of the seven were formed in order to determine the knowledge of the students with regard to the subject, while the last three of them aimed at receiving their thoughts and opinions on the subject. As a result of the research, it has been concluded that the current primary science and technology education program is more successful than the former science and technology education program according to the increasing in the levels of primary school students' knowledge and the positive change in their views about energy.
