Sumario:Volunteer (amateur) music education is a field, in which students mostly get music instruments training. Courses are usually held once a week and only a certain percentage of musical and instrumental development can be provided in these courses. Because the supporting lessons are not included to the volunteer music education programs, the development of hearing cases is seen in connection with the instrument lesson. This research has examined the effect of the instrument selections to the hearing ability. Within the frameworks of this study, hearing ability of 40 students, who get volunteer musical education, has been compared by applying the pretest and posttest. In this regard, this study has both experimental and descriptive features. This study was carried out on a study group of 40 people, who gets volunteer music training for the first time, in a private music school under Ministry of Education in capital city Ankara. The changes by the hearings after music lessons by the students were examined in this study. Necessary expert opinions were received to prepare the teaching process required by the study and to collect the data. At the end of a a six-week training process a hearing test was used. After ending the training program of the course, the obtained data were analyzed by a SPSS statistical software and then reached to fruition. According to the findings obtained in the study, a significant difference was observed between hearing ability and flute, piano, guitar and violin instruments training used by the volunteer instruments training. It can be said that the instrument, which’s training affects the hearing skills mostly is piano.
