Sumario: | Mathematics which is described as the abstracted form of the life is defined as analyzing all the possible patterns. Mathematics which processes information, infers results from them and which is a key for problem solving is a useful tool for people to understand the world and our environment. For this reason, searching understanding by starting from pre-school period can be seen as the first steps of understanding mathematics. In this sense, the purpose of this research is to determine the meaning of mathematics according to prospective pre-school teachers. With this regard, it is aimed to present the concepts which are visualized by the pre-school prospective teachers when it is said mathematics and the type of relationship that they construct between them. Within the scope of this aim, the study was carried out together with 63 second year students from pre-school teaching department in an education faculty. The students were asked to create mind maps about mathematics and to produce metaphors about mathematics. A mind map is a visual representation of relationships between concepts and thoughts.
