Sumario:Celebrating a national day and week is important regarding the vitality of national memory and the future perspective. The Language Day on September 26 is among such activities celebrated in Turkey. The alphabet was transmogrified within the scope of a reform on 1 November 1928. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha initiated the foundation of the Turkish Language Society on 12 July 1932 as an institution to uncloak the essence of Turkish language and make Turkish attain its due place among the world languages. The congress received a great deal of attention with the participation of linguists from abroad. Halit Fahri (Ozansoy) submitted a petition at the end of the congress and offered that September 26 be celebrated as the “Language Day”. This offer was accepted and September 26 was set to be observed as the language feast. The so-called feast was observed with different activities throughout the country and most of these celebration and commemorations were organised by the community centers (Halkevi). Conferences were held, language congresses were radioed, folk poems were read, and folk songs were sung in the community centers in order to raise awareness among people about language. The study aims to analyse the language day celebrations in leading provinces and districts of the country as well as to put forth that this feast had a significant function considering the vitality of national awareness and people’s adoption of their own language. Certificates of celebration and activity programs in various provinces and provinces are determined and documented in the Prime Minister's Republic Archives, The study was based on these documents and prepared.
