Summary:In the context of a Mallorca that was just beginning its modernization process, Guillem Roca Sansaloni promoted with his newspapers articles the urban reform of the city of Palma: space decongestion, introduction of hygienic measures, erection of monuments dedicated to relevant characters. He also advocated for the dignification of the theater as a cultural manifestation. Specifically, Roca was the author of the first writings about Henrik Ibsen that were published in the Majorcan press, he also sided with the authors of realistic orientation (Galdós) and fostered a drastic change in the habits of the public attending the functions which were performed at the Teatre Principal.
