Sumario: | This paper analyzes the role played by the Cruzada Mundial de la Amistad (CMA) in the projection of a new international image of Paraguay from its integration into the international institutions and networks. Its founding purpose focused on claim "the value and emboss of friendship", promoting the culture of peace during the Cold War and under the Stroessner's government (1954-1989). The organization's discourses and practices had a double purpose: get over the landlocked situation of Paraguay and give it an anti-communist ideology. The work is part of the right-wing's cultural and ideological paradigms during the Cold War in Latin America and explores the practices of local actors in its international dimension. The research is based on empirical material such as the documents of the organization, CMA's official magazine and local press. |
