After showing how the Crónica denies the legitimacy of don Juan’s rebellion and particularly founds the criticism against him on his alliance, alternately passive and active, with Granada — against which Castile’s crown wages a perpetual war—, this study proves that the blame on this character is, however, limited by the absolute obligation, for the chronicle, to conceal a few contradictions in the political action of the king.
