During the work life of this century, employees have to spend much of their time at work and in this sense inevitably there appeared workplace friendship due to their socialization needs. In the literature, it is claimed that workplace friendship leads to positive organizational outputs. Therefore, when positive organizational outcomes taken in hand the question comes to mind is whether workplace friendship is a determining factor of organizational commitment (which can be seen as one of the concepts examined very much in the literature). Despite the focus on theoretical findings regarding the relationship between workplace friendship and organizational commitment it is noteworthy that empirical researches which attempt to explain the possible relationship between these concepts were very few. At this juncture, the main argument of this research suggest that workplace friendship has effects on organizational commitment positively. In order to sort this problem out several hypothesis are compesed and tested via regression analyses. Among the hypothesis of the research it is supposed that friendship opportunities in the workplace have effects on the affective and continuance commitment to organization but not on the normative commitment to organization. These findings are also compatible with the literature and this research will constitute the base for future studies about the relations between workplace friendship and organizational commitment.
