The large majority of these forces are characterised by the presence of a tough personal leadership or a familiar oligarchy, which owns full power within the party, according to customer relations with the electorate and the party’s members. The legitimacy granted to the party leader by this type of relations, allows him to have full power to appoint candidates, punishing or rewarding them for their political behaviour.
