It privileges the development and the social, the economical and the cultural dimensions of this local society through the analysis of the origin and formation of Santa Rita society, of its types of occupational activities and of its values which give cohesion to the social structure. This study showed that Santa Rita sustainability has been guaranteed through the strategies which assure the residents susistence and the demographic stability. Among these strategies we can focus on rice production, an important characteristic of that region which is complemented witch secondary occupational activities, mainly between each rice harvest time. The study shows that the permanence of the residents in this place is due to the cultural entail identity in a common feeling of belonging to Santa Rita do Sul.
