Sumario:The choir lesson is an important part of the training programs of institutions providing professional music education. The behaviors gained with the choir lesson play an important role in the process of performing choral music performances, beside contributing to the culture of the choir. It is very important for the students to be motivated for the efficient performance of the choral lessons and performances. In this study the effect of choir lessons through the Soundpainting approach which is a multidisciplinary live composing sign language for musicians, dancers and visual artists created by Walter Thompson, were researched on the motivation of third grade of music teachers training programme. Soundpainting sign language covers more than 1500 gestures that are shown by the composer/ director known as the Soundpainter. Research is a descriptive study based on the survey model. The data were obtained through a structured interview applied to third grade of students trained in the music teacher program and analyzed through content analysis. This study, which aims to determine the effects of the soundpainting studies on the motivation of the students towards the lessons in the chorus lessons, is important in that it is a study on a performance oriented work supporting creative and cognitive development. After careful analysis of data, it has been found out that Soundpainting training has possitive effect of students’ course attandance, increase the interest to the lesson, possitively effects the lesson and performances, make the lesson more efficent, students want to study to be part of the lesson and want to use Soundpainting approach in their career, and study does not contribute students’ other majör area courses.
